Ovgu is a Master of Architecture candidate at the Southern California Institute of Architecture, on a merit scholarship, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from McGill University. Her instructors include Eric Owen Moss, Sanford Kwinter and Herwig Baumgartner. Prior to working at City Design Studio, she worked with a prestigious Vancouver office affiliated with Morphosis Architects, where she completed 5 retails stores across Canada and USA as Job Captain. Ovgu is fluent in German and Turkish, and volunteered during her time at McGill as a legal correspondent for Syrian Kids Foundation at Montreal, an NGO dedicated to providing education to 2000 refugee children in Turkey. She was also a competitive fencer in McGill’s fencing team. She is currently coordinating the DeCoding Asian Urbanism research program and publication. which includes contributions from Steven Holl, Rafael Vinoly, Kenneth Frampton and Saskia Sassen among others.
